Representative Cricket
Herbert River has two representative sides with our 1st and 2nd teams. Our main competitions are the Charters Towers Goldfield Ashes, The Wilmar Sugar Cream of the Crop Challenge against Homehill and also at Homehill the Canefield Ashes. Needless to say we are always looking for new teams to play. There is also an Over40's team and a ladies team. Interested in a game just contact us.

Charters Towers Goldfield Ashes
Herbert River has been making the pilgrimage to Charters Towers since it's inception in 1948. In recent years we have had two teams in the competition playing A grade and B1 Grade. We have actually played in the competition more times than Charters Towers. This competition is generally held on the Australia Day weekend. We have taken out the A grade competition five times - 1978 1980 1982 1989 1992.
Wilmar Sugar Cream of The Crop Challenge
With Homehill and Herbert River both heavily involved in sugar cane it was inevitable that the rivalry would cross over into the cricket fields. Twice a year we cross paths with Juniors and Seniors both fighting it out for the Hard Wicket and Turf Wicket Trophies.
